Wise Woman: Susan Tuttle
This is a September series in honor of the women who have lent their wisdom to my course Dear Artist—Design a Meaningful + Creative Life You Love.
One only needs to enter her sacred space to be moved by this mystical beauty. I've long admired her breathtaking photography and mystical writing, so it is a deep honor for me to feature Susan Tuttle in Dear Artist.
I can't tell you how I first discovered her, but Susan both entrances and enchants as she manifests beauty with the skill of a magician. It is a gift to be in her world, because the way she embraces life, lives her art, and weaves language into glimmering tapestries feels like stepping through a veil, through a portal, into transcendence.
She is an author, photographer and online educator who wrote an exquisite guide for us in Dear Artist about how to fall in love with our beautiful, hard, and holy lives—
You must live with eyes wide open, looking for everyday magic. If you are open to it and are actively seeking it, inviting the cosmos's charms into your life, magic will find you at every turn, I guarantee it. Allow it to captivate you and filter into your heart, where it will stir you, transform you, infuse you with fresh energy and Light, elevate your experience, and alter your mindset. You will be drawn to it by an unseen force and you will know it when you see it. That knowing happens in an instant. You may feel a flutter in your chest or a pleasant pang in your gut that bubbles up into your throat forming a gasp, a sigh, or an Oh! Your eyes may mist over. You will feel special and loved in that moment. The magic will nourish your artistry in whatever medium(s) you like to work in, providing you with inspiration and possibility, with material to work with.
